Nedsail was born from a simple passion: the relentless pursuit of going faster on the water. Founded over 15 years ago by Rob van Leijen from Herwijnen, the Netherlands, Nedsail started its journey as the exclusive importer of SRB Optimist racing dinghies from the Czech Republic for the Netherlands and Belgium. Those iconic little boats introduced a generation of young Dutch sailors to the thrill of competitive sailing, and they set the stage for everything Nedsail would become.
Over the years, the ambitions of the company grew alongside the sailors it served. Nedsail evolved from an importer into a dedicated manufacturer of high-performance parts and equipment for competitive sailing. Today, Nedsail is the go-to source for sailors who refuse to compromise on quality or performance.
A Family Built on Racing DNA
What truly sets NedSail apart is the expertise behind it. Pieter van Leijen, together with Daniël Bramervaer, won the 29er European Championship in Norway in 2016, establishing himself as one of the top youth sailors in the world. As co-founder of nedsail.com, Pieter brings that championship-level insight directly into every product the company develops. He has since gone on to serve as Head Coach of the 29er National Talent Team (NTT) at the Dutch Watersportverbond, meaning Nedsail's products are shaped by someone who not only races at the highest level, but coaches the next generation of Dutch sailing champions.
